Meeting Details

Day: Tuesday (fall and spring semesters, for summer information see email below)

Time: 6:30 p.m.

Location: 325 W McCarty Lane (First Baptist Church)

Note: We meet off-campus for the benefit of our off-campus speakers. Ask about rides if you don't have a car. Information - Charles.Johnson@txstate.edu

Application Process

When you join Medical Explorers, you are joining two affiliated organizations. As part of that process, you will be asked to complete three required forms:

Forms can be printed in advance or obtained from the Membership Secretary during your visit. You will receive guidance on how to complete each step. Please use blue ink to fill out the form (it's a legal issue and lawyers like blue ink, we'll explain).

Applications are typically accepted a few weeks after the semester begins to allow new students time to learn about the program before committing.

What to Expect at Your First Meeting

When you arrive, introduce yourself to an officer or senior advisor. You’ll learn more about the program, meet current members, and get a sense of how you can get involved.

Our Membership Secretary will walk you through the application process and answer any questions. While the process may seem detailed, it reflects the responsibilities of being part of a “Medical Volunteer Organization.”

Transportation

If you need help getting to meetings, contact us—we may be able to connect you with a ride.

Summer Participation

While weekly meetings pause during the summer, volunteer opportunities continue for students who want to stay involved. If you live within reasonable driving distance, you're encouraged to continue volunteer opportunity participation. We do have volunteer opportunities closer to San Antonio and Austin for members at home during the summer.
