As a Medical Explorer, you won’t just observe, you’ll participate, train, and contribute in ways that build both confidence and capability.
Service to the San Marcos community.
Students engage in a wide variety of service-based and experiential opportunities. These may include supporting first aid operations at events, participating in community health initiatives, assisting with outreach programs, and contributing to projects that directly benefit others.
Some students may also participate in advanced opportunities such as medical mission trips, emergency response support, or structured volunteer placements. These experiences provide a realistic look at the responsibilities and challenges of healthcare roles.
Before stepping into many of these roles, students receive training to ensure they are prepared, confident, and operating safely.
Training may include First Aid certification, HIPAA awareness, and foundational instruction in professionalism, communication, and safety. As you progress, additional opportunities may become available depending on your level of commitment and readiness.
